David Freese signs on as new Imo’s spokesperson

Imo’s Pizza is pleased to announce that home town St. Louis Cardinals third baseman, David Freese, has just signed a three-year agreement to represent another home town team – Imo’s Pizza. Freese will be spokesman for Imo’s television, radio, print and digital with new spots to be produced within the next month. Freese will also participate in several personal appearances and meet & greet events. In addition, Imo’s will donate $10,000 to Variety the Children’s Charity of St. Louis in a philanthropic program in conjunction with David Freese.

“I grew up on Imo’s Pizza. It’s always been my favorite pizza and so I am very excited to now represent this great St. Louis Company,” explained Freese. “Nowhere else can you get that unique, delicious square beyond compare taste than at Imo’s. So it won’t be difficult for me at all to be the new spokesperson.”

“We’re also very excited to have David as our spokesperson. We found out after his great 2011 Playoff and World Series performance that David loved Imo’s Pizza and we’ve been trying to get together now for about a year. We just love that he endorsed Imo’s on his own before we officially partnered,” said Ed Imo, president of Imo’s Pizza.

Imo’s Pizza was started in 1964 by Ed and Margie Imo in a neighborhood store on Thurman and Shaw in south St. Louis City, starting out strictly as a delivery and pick-up parlor. In fact, Imo’s was one of the first parlors in the country to deliver pizza to the customer’s home. The company has now grown to more than 90 franchised stores, the great majority of which are located in the greater St. Louis area, with a dozen other stores throughout Missouri, including Springfield and Kansas City. To kick off Imo’s For Kids Day today, where 10% of all proceeds go to Variety The Children’s Charity of St. Louis, Margie Imo was interviewed on KTVI Channel 2 this morning. At the interview, Margie also presented Jan Albus, executive director of Variety a check for $2,000 to kick start the day from Hubbard Radio (WIL, WXOS, WARH). Students Thank Smoke-Free Imo’s Pizza in Washington, MO

St. Francis Borgia Regional High School students recently presented a certificate of appreciation to Imo’s Pizza for eliminating the smoking section of its restaurant. Students presented certificates to area smoke-free restaurants as part of a national initiative to fight youth tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke.
